You’ve never done the things you wanted to, you’ve missed out on opportunities and you’ve spent the past few decades not being true to your values and priorities. So often we let our actions be dictated by our emotions, which is the perfect recipe for waking up at the age of 50 and realizing you’ve lived a life you’re not proud of. “I’m scared AND I’m going to plan a trip to SE Asia for my upcoming vacation.” ![]() “I would plan a trip to SE Asia for my upcoming vacation, BUT I’m scared.” Usually, I put into action this technique that I use with my patients which comes from “Acceptance and Commitment Therapy” and is called “exchanging BUT for AND.” Oh yes, I may have created a life for myself in another country halfway around the world from where I grew up and I now am doing what could be considered the job of my dreams, but am I fearless? Between coaching clients, running the Location Independent Therapists community, writing my book, taking care of my son, and making time for my own self-care…well my blog sometimes gets put on the back burner. Unfortunately, there never seems to be enough time to put into writing all of the topics I’d like to share on. ![]() Each and everyday topics come up in my coaching sessions that make me think “ooh!
